I Run For....

Several years ago, my Mom took up running after her divorce from the old man.  Not long after she discovered how freeing this hobby is for her, she got involved in this really neat thing called I Run For.  She's told me a lot about it, and I've watched her posts she's shared about it.  I've seen how happy it makes her, and I've always been curious.  Finally, earlier this year, I decided I'd check it out.

Here's the thing, though:  I don't run.  LOL  If you see me running, you need to be running, too, because it means something's chasing me.  LOL

I contacted the admin for this program and she said, "Oh, you don't have to actually run, you can dedicate your workout, no matter how big or small, to your Run Buddy."  She told me how it works, and I decided I wanted to do the I Run For Remembrance.  I signed up, she told me it's going to take a bit to get me a buddy, but she's got me on the list to be matched with someone.

Over the course of the next few months, I'd keep in touch with her, occasionally e-mailing her to check in and let her know I'm still interested, so she'd know I'd not disappeared.

Today, today was the day, I got my Run Buddy.  A lovely young man called Tanner, he's 21, and he gained his wings 3 years ago.  His parents and I have been messaging through Facebook, getting to know each other, and I'm so excited to be doing this for their wonderful son.  His parents are so cool, too!  Lots of fun to talk with.

I'm going to be dedicating my dog walks with Emily and my Tai Chi workouts for #IR4Tanner.  ^_^  I'm starting first thing in the morning.

  1. Hi Rea! I've been meaning to comment. I Run For sounds like a lovely program, even for another non-runner like me. :)
